I am a licensed midwife in Fort Mill who is thrilled to assist women in having happy, healthy babies.

Licensed Midwife, Fort Mill, South Carolina

As a licensed midwife, I have over 25 years of experience helping women through the prenatal, labor and birth processes. Despite my extensive experience, I am still in awe of how unique and special every birth is.

Today, midwifery blends evidence-based practice and the personalized art of woman-to-woman care. As a licensed midwife, I work with women and their families by sharing my knowledge and experience and honoring their birth choices. I believe my role is not to direct you, but to be there for you as a source of guidance and support during your journey. The best way to ensure a healthy, safe, and happy birth is to be actively involved in all the responsibilities and choices that affect you and your new baby.

Many of the women I work with in Fort Mill, South Carolina choose to give birth at home. In many cases, I encourage home birth because it allows you to set the tone for the process and deliver in an environment that is comfortable and familiar. By giving birth at home, you are also allowed to move around as labor progresses, choose who will be present at the birth, and include siblings to the point you feel comfortable.

If you would like more information about giving birth at home and my role as a licensed midwife, I am ready and waiting to help. I look forward to your inquiry or call!

FAQs About Hiring Me as Your Licensed Midwife

Hiring a licensed midwife is a big decision, so I encourage you to educate yourself about your options. I also believe you know better than others what choices work for you, and I am here to offer the support you need. Learn more by reading through the FAQs below.

Do you accept insurance?
Yes. If your policy includes midwifery care, I accept insurance.
Do you offer postpartum care?
Yes, I do. Postpartum is an extremely important period during which it’s essential to closely monitor mom and baby and help mom make a full and swift recovery. I can perform the newborn screening test, complete and file the birth certificate, and consult and support you with breastfeeding.
How long have you been a licensed midwife?
I obtained my license from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) in 1993, and I have spent the years following then and up until now learning, getting certified, and applying my knowledge to facilitate healthy births.
Why should I choose a midwife?
One of the main benefits of hiring me as your midwife is continuity of care. We will spend several months getting to know each other and establishing a trusting relationship so that you have a familiar caregiver once it’s time to give birth. Continuity of care also means that I will remain by your side if for some reason you need to be transferred to a hospital during labor or after delivery.
